Noah Family Reunion

Noah Family Reunion

I was preaching about race a few years ago, and discussing how the Bible understands that humanity is all one family. (“One blood” is how Paul says it in Athens, Acts 17:26.)

“We all come from Adam and Eve. We are all related to Noah.”

And then it occurred to me, in the middle of the sermon, “Everywhere we go is a Noah family reunion.”

That though has stuck with me, and has proven itself helpful for my imagination and consideration of my neighbors.

Imagine, for example, walking through Walmart, and knowing that you are related, somehow, to everyone you see. It is a helpful and Biblical shift in perspective.

Now, last week, I was stuck in the protests in downtown Austin. Signs were everywhere, and I was wondering what kind of sign I would carry in a crowd. The Noah Family Reunion idea came to mind.

Facebook helped turn the idea from a sign to a t-shirt, and TeeSpring turned it into every kind of merch.

So, #1, remember we are all one family, and, #2, if you like this kid of thing, you can buy a shirt, or hoodie, or sticker.

For the Family!
