British Isles Theological Adventure Tour, 2024

We are headed to England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, and we would love for you to join us!

We had scheduled a trip to Israel next summer, and, well… Keri has always wanted to visit Ireland and Scotland, so we re-tooled a classic Globus itinerary to include some classic theological locations.

  • Cambridge: Immerse yourself in the historic and academic atmosphere of Cambridge, renowned for its prestigious university and picturesque architecture.

Included in the tour: 

  • Tour Book (including a journal, hymns, Scripture, etc.).

  • Tour Director, the services of a professional, multilingual Tour Director will be provided throughout.

The Outline of Adventure…

Day 1 – 31 MAY (FRI) – ARRIVE LONDON, ENGLAND

  • Meet your Globus representative after clearing customs to transfer to your hotel.
  • Join your tour director and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner at our hotel.

    Note: Individual transfer to your hotel. While transfers can sometimes be private, guests may be grouped with other Globus family of brands guests arriving and departing at the same time. Flight information is required at least 90 days in advance to secure the transfer.
London

Day 2 – 01 JUNE (SAT) – LONDON – COTSWOLDS – OXFORD*

  • Depart London for a drive into the rolling countryside of Cotswolds Hills with its villages of distinctive local yellow limestone cottages and thatched roofs.
  • Continue to Oxford for a guided walk through the university city.

Day 3 – 02 JUNE (SUN) – OXFORD – FAREHAM – STONEHENGE – BRISTOL

  • Drive to Fareham for a morning church service at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
  • Visit Stonehenge to marvel at this remarkable and mysterious feat of ancient engineering and design. It is the most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and now a world heritage site.
  • Overnight in Bristol with dinner at your hotel.

Day 4 – 03 JUNE (MON) – BRISTOL – CARDIFF, WALES – PEMBROKE – ROSSLARE, IRELAND – WATERFORD

  • Take an orientation drive in Cardiff to view Cardiff Castle, Cathays Park, and civic buildings.
  • Ferry across St. George’s Channel to Rosslare, Ireland.
  • Overnight in Waterford with dinner at your hotel.

Day 5 – 04 JUNE (TUE) – WATERFORD – BLARNEY – KINSALE – ROSSCARBERY

  • Visit Blarney for its famous Kissing Stone.
  • Stop in the historic town of Kinsale, famous for its multi-hued streets.
  • Arrive in Rosscarbery for leisure time.

Day 6 – 05 JUNE (WED) – ROSSCARBERY – KENMARE – KILLARNEY – LIMERICK

  • Enjoy a panoramic drive around the Ring of Kerry, Ireland’s southwestern peninsula.
  • Take a horse-drawn jaunting car ride in Killarney National Park.
  • Stop in the village of Adare to see thatched roof cottages.
  • This evening step back in time at an original Irish medieval banquet to enjoy a 4-course feast with wine, then relax as your medieval hosts dazzle you with unforgettable music and storytelling.

Day 7 – 06 JUNE (THU) – LIMERICK – CLIFFS OF MOHER – GALWAY – DUBLIN

  • Visit the Cliffs of Moher and Galway Cathedral, Cathedral, one of the largest and most impressive cathedrals in Ireland.
  • Enjoy dinner at the Taylors Irish Cabaret in Dublin, featuring Irish music, dance, and comedy.

Day 8 – 07 JUNE (FRI) – DUBLIN

  • Morning at leisure.
  • Take an orientation drive to see O’Connell Street, Georgian squares, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Trinity College.This evening discover the history, traditions, and brewing techniques behind one of the world’s most popular beers on this fascinating tour, tasting and dinner at Dublin’s legendary Guinness Storehouse.

Day 9 – 08 JUNE (SAT) – DUBLIN – CARLINGFORD – BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

  • Stop in the seaside town of Carlingford on the Cooley Peninsula.
  • Orientation drive in Belfast, including City Hall, the Albert Memorial Clock Tower, and Queen’s University.
  • If time permits, visit the Titanic Belfast Experience.

Day 10 – 09 JUNE (SUN) – BELFAST – CAIRNRYAN – EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

  • Meet local Lutheran families for a morning service (location TBD).
  • Ferry across the North Channel to Cairnryan, Scotland.
  • Travel to Edinburgh for your two-night stay.

Day 11 – 10 JUNE (MON) – EDINBURGH. EXCURSION TO ST. ANDREWS

  • City sightseeing with a Local Guide, including the New Town and the Old Town.
  • Visit Edinburgh Castle to see Scotland’s Crown Jewels.
  • Then journey to St. Andrews, a spiritual center in Scotland for centuries. During the Reformation, St. Andrews University was third in significance after Oxford and Cambridge.
  • Visit St. Andrews Cathedral, once the largest church in Scotland.
  • Return to Edinburgh for an authentic Scottish evening filled with traditional food, drinks, singers, dancers, bagpipes, and, of course, the unforgettable Ceremony of the Haggis!

Day 12 – 11 JUNE (TUE) – EDINBURGH – YORK

  • Travel to York, England’s most complete medieval city.
  • Visit York Minster, hailed as one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals and the center of
    Christian faith in northern England.
  • Follow your Tour Director through a maze of quaint streets, including the narrow Shambles, said to have been the inspiration behind Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, and today a colorful place with cheerful cafés and quirky boutiques with the sweet aromas of chocolate, pastries and pies.

Day 13 – 12 JUNE (WED) – YORK – CAMBRIDGE – LONDON

  • Travel to Cambridge for historical exploration, where Tyndale moved in 1519 after a decade spent in Oxford.
  • Visit the Round House, St. Edward’s Church, St Mary’s Church, Magdalen College, and Westfield House.
  • Explore Tyndale’s connection in Cambridge and visit sites associated with the Lutheran house of study.

Day 14 – 13 JUNE (THU) – LONDON

  • Morning sightseeing with a local guide covering landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall, Prime Minister’s Downing Street residence, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace, and a visit to St. Paul’s Cathedral.
  • Your afternoon is at your leisure, with your Tour Director on hand to help you make the most of your day.
  • This evening, our farewell dinner cruise on the River Thames, a traditional dining experience with a relaxed, night-time river cruise, viewing some of the capital’s most beautiful, illuminated sights.
  • Enjoy a three-course dinner with several local menu choices. Following dinner you will enjoy scenic views from the comfort of your private cruiser.
  • Highlights include Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s and the Houses of Parliament, with commentary from your guide as you cruise along the River Thames.
