How old is the earth?

The question of the age of the Earth is an important one, not only scientifically but also theologically. Here are five questions I recommend for meditating on this question.

Five Questions to Ask about the History of Genesis 1-2

  1. How does the text present itself? As history or something else?
  2. How does the rest of the Bible treat Genesis 1-2? How does Jesus treat it?
  3. What is the relationship of death and sin?
  4. Am I willing to be thought a fool?
  5. Why are plants, fruit, and seeds created on day three (before the sun)?
