St. Paul in Greece: 2025 Theological Adventure Tour

Keri and I are pleased to announce our 2025 Theological Adventure Tour: St Paul in Greece!

  • Dates: September 9-20, 2025
  • Athens – Corinth – Delphi – Meteora – Kalambaka – Veria – Thessaloniki – Philippi – Kavala – Thermopylae – Athens – Cruise: Mykonos – Ephesus – Patmos – Rhodes – Crete – Santorini – Athens
  • Twelve Days, including a four-day cruise in the Greek Isles.
  • We will visit the Lutherans in Greece, and host a Theological Conference (with Pr. Brian Flamme) in Thessaloniki.
  • Pr. Brian Flamme will be hosting another bus with the same itinerary, and our two groups will be together in Thessaloniki and on the cruise.

Included in the tour: 

  • We’ve partnered with Globus for this custom theological tour.
  • Tour Book (including a journal, hymns, writings of St. Paul, etc.).
  • Tour Director, the services of a professional, multilingual Tour Director will be provided throughout.
  • A four-day cruise on the Aegean Sea!
  • Cruise: all outside window rooms, Sky High Drink Package, Patmos and Ephesus excursions included.
  • Meals, eleven continental breakfasts, four lunches, and nine dinners.
  • Quality four-star hotels.
  • Ground transportation: Motorcoaches are fully air-conditioned while touring.
  • Sightseeing: Sightseeing as outlined in the itinerary with inside visits (including admission charges) and special features in the tour description. Sightseeing with local guides where applicable.

  • $650 deposit due ASAP. (This deposit in not refundable.)
  • June 20, 2025, final payment due and all travel arrangements must be made.
  • Cost is $6,825 per person.
    • *Note: Airfare is not included.
    • Round-trip into Athens should be individually arranged.

DETAILED ITINERARY (oh man, you guys are going to love this!)

Every day includes prayer, Bible study, devotions, hymns and study of St. Paul’s writings led by Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller.

Day 1 – 09 SEPTEMBER (TUESDAY) – ARRIVE ATHENS, GREECE

  • Welcome to Greece!
  • Individual airport arrival transfers are included to your hotel.
  • This first afternoon is at your leisure.
  • This evening meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your
    hotel.

Day 2 – 10 SEPTEMBER (WEDNESDAY) – ATHENS. EXCURSION TO CORINTH

  • Take a scenic drive to the Corinth Canal with a photo stop.
  • Enjoy a guided visit to the excavations, including Agora and St. Paul’s Bema, where the Christian
    missionary faced the Forum’s court.
  • Return to Athens for a guided sightseeing tour. Tour includes visits to the Areopagus and the
    Acropolis, Mars Hill where St. Paul argued with the Philosophers.
  • Stop for a photo opportunity at the Panathenaic Stadium—site of the first Olympic Games.
  • Enjoy the balance of your day at leisure. Dinner on your own.

Day 3 – 11 SEPTEMBER (THURSDAY) – ATHENS – DELPHI – METEORA – KALAMBAKA

  • Depart Athens to experience the magic of Delphi, home to Apollo’s famous Oracle, as you visit
    the Delphi Archaeological Site and its impressive museum.
  • Continue on a scenic drive to Meteora to visit the magnificent natural setting where
    stratospheric rock formations surround the ancient monasteries perched on the clifftops.
  • Here, gigantic rocky outcrops reach 600 meters high above the plains of Thessaly where you’ll
    visit the stunning, red-roofed monasteries of Varlaam and St. Stephen.
  • Overnight in Kalambaka with dinner at your hotel.

Day 4 – 12 SEPTEMBER (FRIDAY) – KALAMBAKA – VERIA – THESSALONIKA

  • Travel to Veria to visit the Bema of Apostle Paul.
  • Continue to Thessalonica for an orientation drive to view the White Tower and Aristotelous
    Square.
  • See Thessalonika’s iconic 15th-century prison White Tower, standing 34-meters high.
  • Hear the history of the Ottoman Empire and tragic ends of those who were imprisoned here.
  • Pass Aristotelous Square, the Jewel of Thessalonika on the sea front.
  • Visit Ag. Dimitros Basilika

Day 5 – 13 SEPTEMBER (SATURDAY) – THESSALONIKA. EXCURSION TO PHILIPPI – KAVALA

  • Follow the path of St. Paul the Apostle where the disciple traveled in 49-50 CE to spread the
    Word of Christ. Visit the Greek Orthodox church and Baptistry of Saint Lydia, the first Greek and
    European woman baptized by the Apostle Paul. Visit the amazing ancient ruins of the Philippi’s
    Roman Forum, the Basilicas, and Theater in the city that became the center of Christian faith
    following the visit of the Apostle Paul.
  • An orientation drive in Kavala includes Neapolis of the Acts and St. Paul’s mosaic.
  • Free time for lunch before returning to Thessaloniki for an afternoon and evening Theological
    Conference at your hotel.

Day 6 – 14 SEPTEMBER (SUNDAY) – THESSALONIKI – THERMOPYLAE – ATHENS

  • Attend a Sunday Morning Church Service before departing for Thermopylae.
  • Travel through the coastal floodplain of the Spercheios river, surrounded by sloping forested
    limestone mountains and the thermal springs of Thermopylae.
  • Greek Spartans, Thebans, and Thespians fought Persian invaders during the historic Battle of
    Thermopylae in this narrow coastal passage.
  • Your evening in Athens is at your leisure to prepare for your cruise. Dinner on your own.

Day 7 – 15 SEPTEMBER (MONDAY) – ATHENS – LAVRION: CRUISE EMBARKATION – MYKONOS

  • Depart from your hotel as a group to Lavrion for embarkation on your Greek Isle cruise.
  • The Magical sun kissed island of Mykonos invites you to admire its stunning coastline and rocky
    landscape.

Day 8 – 16 SEPTEMBER (TUESDAY) – CRUISING: KUSADASI & EPHESUS, TURKEY – PATMOS, GREECE

  • Patmos boasts a spiritual vibe thanks to the legends of St John. Explore the lush forest like hills
    that encircle the capitol, Chora with a local guide.

  • Visit two ports today to for a whirlwind adventure.
  • In Heraklion take a spellbinding tour of the Palace of Knossos to learn about Europe’s first
    civilization.
  • The romantic island of Santorini is dotted with traditional whitewashed houses and blue domed
    churches instantly recognizable as one of the world’s most photographed picture perfect
    landscapes.

Day 11 – 19 SEPTEMBER (FRIDAY) – CRUISE DISEMBARKATION – ATHENS

  • Your cruise ends today with disembarkation in Athens.
  • Board your coach for one group transfer to your Athens hotel.
  • Enjoy a day at your leisure to explore on your own or shop for last minute souvenirs.
  • This evening celebrate with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 12 – 20 SEPTEMBER (SAT) – DEPART ATHENS, GREECE

About your tour hosts.

Pastor Bryan & Keri Wolfmueller have hosted international theological adventures since 2010. Combining a flare for adventure, connection to the local Lutheran churches, and a deep love for the Scriptures, these tours are opportunities to explore both God’s world and word.

They have led trips to Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Austria, Spain, Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland, and most recently hosted a Lutheran Singles Cruise from Galveston to Mexico. Pr. Wolfmueller has also traveled and taught in Australia, Fiji, Taiwan, South Africa, Botswana, Madagascar, Canada, Denmark, and Sweden.

When the are not traveling, Pr Wolfmueller serves St Paul and Jesus Deaf Lutheran Churches in Austin, TX. Keri works with the church musicians, teaches piano lessons, and tends to their family of four children (and two children-in-laws) who have also been able to join some of these adventures.
