Rules, Etc.
This cruise is designed for Lutheran singles to meet and form friendships, and perhaps connect with a future spouse. We are planning time for devotions and study, as well as social time for mixing and mingling. We have high expectations for Christian behavior for all who are joining us on the this cruise.
No breaking the Ten Commandments. That’s the standard. But we’ll be even more specific for our circumstances.
- We honor marriage by chastity before marriage. No men and women sharing rooms, being alone in rooms together, no sexual activity, etc.
- Marriage is a man and a women. There will be no gender or sexual confusion.
- Sobriety is expected. Drunkenness destroys the conscience, opens the door to the demons, and is a bad look.
- No harassing.
We are asking for a pastoral reference for everyone coming on the cruise, and Keri and I reserve the right to remove people from our group. We don’t expect this to happen, but we want this cruise to be safe and comfortable for everyone involved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click HERE for the Royal Caribbean FAQ.
Is there still room? As long as there are rooms on the ship there is room in our group.
How are payments handled? All payments are made through Royal Caribbean, and can be made via Credit Card through the reservations number.
When is the deposit due? A $200 deposit is due when you make your booking. The refundability of this deposit depends on a number of factors (did you book with our group rate or another promotion, etc.), so you will want to ask about that with the Royal Caribbean Customer Service folks.
When is final payment due? May 18, 2024 (75 days before departure).
It’s past May 18, can I still join the group? Sure. As long as there is room on the ship there is room in our group. If you are booking after May 18 full payment is due at the time of booking.
Do I need to find my own roommate(s)? Yes. If you are travelling alone, you will need to book a room for yourself.
How many people can stay in a room? Our group rate rooms are double occupancy, but most rooms can have 3 or 4 people.
What will the schedule of activities be like? This is the first singles cruise we’ve put together, so we are still sorting this out. We are planning on hosting morning and evening prayer, a Bible study for our two days at sea (Friday and Sunday), a Sunday morning service of the Word, daily social mixers, and suggested on-board activities for people to do together. We will all be seated together at dinner.
What if I’m not Lutheran? First, you should consider it. Second, if you are in a new member class, or regularly attend a Lutheran church, if you are “Lutheran adjacent”, please fill out the form, and we’ll talk it over with you. But, this is a Lutheran Singles Cruise, so the Lutheran part is pretty important.
Do I have to be Missouri-Synod? No. But, fair warning to members of ELCA congregations, we will probably have some follow-up questions for you. The ELCA has tragically lost its moorings, especially in regards to marriage, man and woman, etc., and lives in a completely different moral and theological world, so we want to make sure we are all on the same pages regarding God’s design and purpose of humanity, marriage, etc. (We will not celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the cruise, so communion fellowship is not a concern.)
What so you mean by “sober”? By sober we simply mean not drinking to the point of becoming drunk. By sober we also mean not using any kind of legal or illegal drugs that would affect your sobriety. We want everyone to have a functioning conscience. So, you will still be free to enjoy a beer should you choose to on the cruise. We are trusting everyone to understand what their limitations are, and to make wise choices regarding how much they choose to drink.
Why do I need to be part of the group? Booking with our group means that you will be seated with us at meals, included in the communication before the cruise, counted toward the space allotted to us onboard, and able to take advantage of the group benefits.
If I’m flying into Houston, how do I get to the ship? Royal Caribbean offers shuttle service to and from both Houston airports at an extra charge. Mention transfers when you book, and they will provide you all the information you need. Here is a link with more information and the number to call to make a reservation for the shuttle: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/port-arrival-travel-options
What do you mean by “single”? Not married. (If you’re engaged, it’d be kind of strange to come on a singles cruise, but you’re still single.)
Do I need a passport? A passport is not required, but highly recommended. Please read this article on the Royal Caribbean website.
